DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nPRESENTATION: Engineering Geo-Textile Buildings \nPatti Stouter is a landscape architect morphed into anthropology buff and building designer. She runs an international consulting firm for small aid organizations on a shoestring\, researching structural values of buildings made of dirt and trash. Build Simple Inc. is one of a few earthen building web info sites that recommends structural testing. Patti models her plans for earthbag housing\, clinic and school buildings on New Zealand’s adobe standards. \nBSI started static strength tests of the earthbag reinforced earthen technology in 2011. Because earthbag survived Nepal’s 2015 quakes and engineers often are unfamiliar with earthen construction\, she consults on building code language and is currently choosing partners for shake table tests. DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Nadir Yilmaz\, Ph.D.\, P.E.\, F.NSPE\, Professor of Mechanical Engineering\, New Mexico Tech \n Ethics and Emissions: Cheating Crisis in Auto Industry- VW Crisis and Beyond \nOn September 18 2015\, the United States Environmental Agency (EPA) issued a notice of violation of the Clean Air act to Volkswagen Group\, after it was found that the car maker had intentionally programmed turbocharged direct injection (TDI) diesel engines to activate certain emissions controls only during laboratory emissions testing.
